Menopause ‘Brain Fog’ Is A Real Thing, Study Says

Ever have days when you can’t remember things? Here’s why.

No, you aren’t going crazy. For women experiencing menopause, those memory lapses and times where you just can’t focus or concentrate, simply come with the menopausal territory, a new Harvard study has found. There is really something going on in the brain.

Previous studies found that up to 60 percent of women report memory issues as they go through menopause. This new report, published in the Journal for Neuroscience, sheds some light on what is happening in the brain during those hormonal shifts.

The research team studied 200 men and women ― women were age 45 to 55 ― using functional MRI to look at changes in the brain’s memory circuitry. Participants were shown two words on a screen and asked to form a sentence using them, then were later tested on their memory of the words. They also collected information on the female participants’ menopausal status and measured steroid hormone levels, including 17β-estradiol, a sex steroid hormone that declines during menopause.

The researchers found that when estradiol levels were lower, more pronounced changes in the hippocampus — one of the primary regions of the brain implicated in learning and memory — were seen, and participants with lower levels of the hormone performed worse on the memory task.

So the next time you misplace your car keys …. (sorry but our brain just froze. Can we get back to you later to finish that sentence?)

Actually, the vast majority have never known about lymphatic seepage or even the lymphatic framework. This is on account of it is not frequently discussed, be that as it may, in 2012 specialists at USC put forth this expression: “… the lymphatic framework is no less fundamental than the blood circulatory framework for human wellbeing and prosperity.” Researchers found that the lymphatic framework is imperative for both tissue repair and controlling irritation in many organs of the human body. The dishonorable seepage of the lymphatic framework, brings about a hindered safe framework, or even tumors in the lymph hubs. Despite the fact that you practice your body day by day, you additionally need to practice your lymphatic framework by helping it deplete legitimately. Keeping your lymphatic framework fit as a fiddle is fundamental for ideal wellbeing.

Why You Should Detoxify Your Lymphatic System

You most likely know at this point we are presented to a huge amount of poisons day by day, to be more particular more than 82,000 unique poisons. At the point when poisons develop and in the event that we don’t detox our framework routinely, our organs get to be overburdened which bargains our general wellbeing. This is the place the lymphatic framework comes in play. The lymphatic framework washes down the liquid that encompasses the cells in your body by expelling polluting influences and waste items. This helps cells in the body to work appropriately. An unfortunate lymphatic framework can prompt genuine wellbeing issues, for example, fibromyalgia, different sclerosis, endless exhaustion disorder, heftiness, a throbbing painfulness, bloating and issues with assimilation.

The most effective method to Detoxify Your Lymphatic System with Castor Oil

As per Dr. David WIlliams, “No medication exists that can enhance lymphatic stream; be that as it may, the occupation can without much of a stretch be taken care of through the topical utilization of Castor oil. ” (where to discover) The system is exceptionally basic. All that you need to do is apply the oil to various parts of the skin. For lymphatic incitement, simply apply a castor oil pack to the lower mid-region. Take a cotton fabric collapsed in a few layers and icy squeezed oil castor oil. Soak the fabric in oil and apply it to the skin. You can abandon it on overnight. The castor oil pack will build dissemination of lymphatic liquids, lessen irritation and enhance your digestive framework.

Echinacea reinforces certain sorts of cells in the lymph hubs called macrophages, which discharge the poisons out of the lymph.

Sweat It Out in a Sauna

Sweat is one of the most ideal approaches to dispose of poisons. Sauna showers raise our bodies temperature, in this way animating sweat organs. Developed poisons, for example, copper, lead, sodium, mercury and different perilous chemicals are discharged through sweat.

The Three Phases of A Narcissistic Relationship Cycle: Over-Evaluation, Devaluation, Discard

A relationship with a Narcissist has been compared to being on a roller coaster, with immense highs and immense lows. They have been described as the proverbial Jekyll and Hyde, one way one minute, another the next.

People usually get into relationships for love and the need to connect and bond with another. Narcissists get into relationships for entirely different reasons. They do not feel love and they lack the ability to connect and form normal attachment bonds with others.

Narcissists need people more than anyone. Because their entire sense of self-esteem and self-worth is dependent on the admiration of others, their emotions are a precarious balance of needing others and needing to be left alone.

Narcissists feel an enormous void inside of them. This void is ever present and the only thing that fills it, is the love and esteem of another. The fix is always temporary though. A Narcissist describes it this way, “It’s like my brain is constantly seeking something. It’s like I’m always chasing a carrot at the end of a stick. Nothing I do satisfies me, at least not for long. I feel like I only do things because I’m supposed to, because society does it. I don’t feel like I belong anywhere or with anyone.”

Narcissists are completely self-absorbed and are oblivious to the wants and needs of others. They enter into relationships in an attempt to fill this void and to make sure that they have someone who is always available for sex, an ego stroke or whatever need they may have. A relationship with a Narcissist always follows three phases, the over-evaluations phase, the devaluation phase and the discard phase.

The Over-evaluation Phase

A Narcissist is very careful when choosing a target. Typically, they will choose a victim based on their status. They must be attractive, popular, rich or extremely gifted in some area. The greater the status, the higher the value the Narcissist places on the Supply derived.

Once a target has been chosen, it’s almost like the Narcissist gets tunnel vision. They are hyper-vigilant in their pursuit and will project the perfect image that their victim wants them to be. They are excessively caring, loving and attentive at this stage. They shower their targets with attention, compliments and literally sweep them off their feet.

They place their target on a pedestal, idolize and worship them. Their target is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Here the Narcissist is ecstatic, full of hopes and dreams. They will talk and think about them constantly, they are euphoric. This is as close as a Narcissist will ever get to feeling love. This kind of idolization is what others would call infatuation.

The victim is likely so caught up in all the attention and is usually thinking at this point, that they have found their soul-mate. Their pursuer is exactly what they want in a partner (because the Narcissist is mirroring what they have learned appeals to their target) and they can’t believe how lucky they are and that this catch is still single.

What they don’t know, or could ever be prepared for, is what comes next.

The Devaluation Stage

The Over-Evaluation phase, if you’re dealing with a Somatic Narcissist, usually lasts anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months, just long enough for the Narcissist to be confident that they have secured their target’s love and devotion. Unbeknownst to the target, what they were witnessing in the early phase was the Narcissist’s false self. In this second phase, the mask comes off and the Narcissist starts to reveal their true colours.

The shift could be gradual or almost seemingly overnight. Suddenly the attention they so lavishly gave you is gone and replace by indifference and silence. Days or weeks could go by and you won’t hear from them. They don’t return your phone calls, they don’t keep a single promise and you’re starting to suspect that they might be involved with someone else. The target is left baffled and confused and wondering what they did wrong to cause such an abrupt turnaround.

Narcissists become bored easily and what usually starts happening in their heads at this stage, is that the void begins to emerge again. The high they were feeding off of is waning and they begin to question your worthiness, that perhaps you weren’t so special after all, because if you were then the void wouldn’t still be there.

They become moody and agitated easily, blaming you for even the slightest transgression. They start to disappear more frequently and they give you the silent treatment in an attempt to create distance. As the Narcissist withdraws, the target starts to cling and your demands for his attention and your need to understand what’s happening, grate on his nerves. The harder you cling the more the Narcissist pulls away. They start to blame and criticize the target for everything, treating them like an emotional punching bag.

At this point the target is an emotional wreck. The Narcissist has left without any explanation and they can’t figure out how one minute they were put on a pedestal and now it’s like they doesn’t even exist. The Narcissist is a projector and they are projecting their emotional turmoil onto you. They feed off of other people’s misery (as long as it’s caused by them) just as much as they feeds off of your admiration, either way it makes no difference to them.

It is this person, this cruel, indifferent, unfeeling, sadist that is the behind the mask. Most targets desperately try to find the one they fell in love with. What they don’t realize is that that person never existed. They were a facade an act put on by the Narcissist to secure their Supply.

The Narcissist will take no responsibility for their actions, because they simply don’t care how they’ve treated you or how you are feeling.
Narcissists are not capable of forming normal healthy attachments to people. Those that aren’t familiar with the disorder are completely at a loss to understand how unnecessarily cruel their behavior can be. The target was never more than an object to the Narcissist, whose usefulness is on the decline.

The Narcissist isn’t one to throw away a potential piece of supply though. They will keep up this I love you, I love you not charade going for as long as it suits them or as long as you allow it. They will breeze in and out of your life as if nothing ever happened, completely oblivious and indifferent to your suffering.

This mind fuck is deliberate and they will keep feeding you crumbs of attention, just enough to keep you emotionally invested and available to cater to their every need.

At some point one of two things will happen: either they will find a new target and begin phase one with them, thus ignoring you completely, or you will have had enough of his psychotic abuse and you will take control and put an end to it, thus ushering In phase three.

The Discard Phase

It is almost baffling to watch the ease at which a Narcissist can pull away from his partners. Many targets are left asking themselves, “Did he ever love me? Did I mean anything to him?” The simple answer is no. No one means anything to him. Women are only a means to an end – to obtain the much needed Narcissistic Supply. Once your usefulness has run its course, you will be discarded abruptly and cruelly, without warning.

Trying to get over a relationship with a Narcissist is extremely difficult. Once it is over the target is usually an emotional wreck, whose self-esteem has been annihilated by the persistent demeaning behavior, insults and cruelty of the Narcissist. Depending on when they were able to break free, the target maybe a shadow of their former self, with a lot of work ahead of them to rebuild their shattered self-image.

As a victim tries to pick up the pieces, What must be remembered is that you were deliberately targeted, lied to and manipulated by a skilled con-artist, for their own gain. There was nothing you could have done differently and none of this was your fault. The Narcissist will repeat this pattern with every person, every time, bar none.

All former targets must be vigilantly on guard, because a Narcissist always reserves the right to revisit a former source of supply, no matter how much time has passed or how badly they’ve behaved.

Once you have broken free you must close the door on any and all contact, because if you don’t you’re headed back to a watered down version of Phase One – over and over and over again.

British children are at risk from an outbreak of a killer polio-type virus that can leave its victims paralysed

  • Enterovirus D68 can be spread easily through coughs and sneezes
  • Previously rare bug is on the rise but has no anti-viral cure or vaccine
  • It’s linked to cases of very young children being left unable to walk
  • Paralysis can strike and leaves the worst affected fighting to breathe

Children are at risk from an outbreak of a killer virus similar to polio that can paralyse its victims.

Clusters of children across Britain have fallen victim to enterovirus D68, which is spread easily through coughs and sneezes.

The previously rare bug, which experts say is on the rise, has no anti-viral cure or vaccine.

It has been linked to cases of very young children being left unable to walk. Paralysis can strike within days and leaves the worst affected fighting to breathe or swallow.

It is understood four young victims are in hospital in Edinburgh, with a boy and primary-aged girl in intensive care for more than a month. All four appeared to have lost use of their limbs.

The presence of a ‘small number’ of patients has been confirmed by officials.

The clusters of cases are small, but Public Health England has published a risk assessment stating the virus is associated with ‘polio-like’ neurological symptoms.

Unable to walk: Two-year-old Riley Jones

Unable to walk: Two-year-old Riley Jones

Doctors said two-year-old Riley Jones may never walk again after falling ill with the virus in January.

The toddler, who had symptoms of a chest infection, woke up one day unable to stand – and is now paralysed from the waist down.

His family say he was initially sent home from hospital when doctors were unable to find anything wrong.

They later diagnosed EV-D68, and warned that Riley may be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

His mother Hayley Jones, from Caerphilly in Wales, said: ‘I pray for the day that Riley can walk normally again, that he can run and play football.’

Last year only 14 cases of EV-D68 were detected in the UK, but there have been 38 laboratory-confirmed infections so far this year.

The majority of patients have been admitted to hospital with respiratory problems, with some suffering neurological issues.

While doctors have been notified, affected families fear too little has been done to alert the public.

A source close to the outbreak said: ‘There’s a real concern that the spread of this virus isn’t being made public. GPs need to know that this virus is out there so they can recognise symptoms and make quick referrals.

‘The symptoms seem to start with a sore throat but within a day or so they are left unable to breathe as their muscles stop working and they become floppy. It’s a terrifying disease that leaves a lot of the children permanently paralysed.

‘The health officials seem to be really keen that this is kept secret but parents and doctors need to know.’

Dr Kate Templeton, chairman of NHS Lothian’s incident management team, said: ‘We have been investigating a possible cluster of patients infected with enterovirus D68. The patients are all now testing negative for the virus.’

NHS Lothian also denied that families had been asked not to publicise the disease.

Fears are growing over EV-D68 because of its link to a phenomenon called acute flaccid paralysis which causes patients’ muscles to rapidly weaken.

If the muscles they need to breathe fail, they can die. Children are more vulnerable because they have not built up immunity to such viruses.

There’s a real concern that the spread of this virus isn’t being made public. GPs need to know that this virus is out there
Source close to the outbreak

Enterovirus causes illnesses including meningitis and polio, which can temporarily paralyse the legs. However the EV-D68 type is a non-polio virus.

Experts investigated it after an outbreak in the US killed 14 people and infected 1,153 between August 2014 and January 2015.

The outbreak in Scotland followed one in Wales over the winter of 2014 and 2015.

Public Health England has confirmed the virus is circulating but said cases are in line with expected numbers.

Many people who contract the virus only ever have mild cold-like symptoms and do not suffer paralysis.

The public are advised to take good hygiene precautions when sneezing/coughing, wash their hands and avoid close contact with people with colds and flu-like illnesses.

The health officials want to keep enterovirus D68 a secret because it is spread by the polio vaccine.

An Open Letter to Preeclampsia

By Rhiannon Giles of

Dear Preeclampsia,

You have been the friend every woman longs for during the exhausting final months of pregnancy. Your thoughtfulness was extraordinary — you saw clearly my need for rest and relaxation during such a stressful time.

Sure, I would have preferred a nice hotel and massage, but three weeks on an intermittently-inflating bed and 5 a.m. blood draws were a close approximation. While not having to get out of bed to pee was a nice touch, I have to say that I would have liked a chance to look into what other spa services were available. The staff was a little pushy, checking on me every three hours, but they refilled my water as needed.

Please don’t think me ungrateful; I know you were looking out for my best interests, making sure I was taken care of with food delivered moderately warm and unsalted right to my bed. At least when I was able to eat at all — that was one of your most creative gifts, a nice magnesium cleanse to help me get a head start on losing the baby weight.

You know I support the arts, so you arranged for the IV pump to sing me the song of its people at unpredictable intervals, and you even gave me a head start on the whole adult coloring book craze.

You went out of your way to help me avoid stretch marks and torn lady bits and outdid yourself in your commitment to avoiding the woes of the third trimester. No way would I have gotten my body back as quickly if I’d carried the pregnancy to term!

Whereas many pregnancy illnesses are nothing more than an annoyance, you helped me meet my dear son two months earlier than I could have dreamed. I was then relieved of the burden that comes with a screaming baby in the middle of the night, since you arranged for him to stay right there in the hospital for five weeks.

You thought of everything!

But did you have to try to kill me? It really sends a girl mixed signals.

Rhiannon Giles

We have come across many reports regarding earth and its changes in recent times and not many materialize. However, this time NASA has confirmed that earth will experience total darkness for 15 days in November 2016 starting from November 15 to November 29.

According to NASA this phenomenon was in the pipeline for a long period and the astronomers from NASA have informed that the world will experience a strange event from November 15 at 3:00 am and it is likely to continue until November 30, 4:45 pm.

The officials believe this blackout is the result of an astronomical event between Venus and Jupiter. Charles Bolden, head of NASA issued a 1000 page document which explains the event in detail to the White House.

The reports claim that Venus and Jupiter will be very closely engaged and they will be separated by a mere 1 degree. Venus will surpass to the south-west of Jupiter which results in Venus shining 10 times brighter than Jupiter and this light will heat up the gases in Jupiter causing a reaction. The resulting gas reaction will release a never before seen amount of hydrogen into the space which will make contact with sun at around 2:50 am.

When hydrogen makes contact with sun it will cause a massive explosion on the sun’s surface and it will have an effect on the temperature which increases to 9,000 degrees kelvin in no time.

The heat caused by the whole process will force sun to turn into bluish colour and once it changes it colour it will take at least 14 days to restore its normal temperature and retaining its normal colour of Red Giant.

Meanwhile, the light from sun will be much dimmer than normal and people will experience the change only after 2:58 am on November 15th.

We do not expect any major effects from the Blackout event. The only effect this event will have on Earth is an increase of 6 – 8 degrees in temperature. the polar cap will be mostly affected by this. No one should worry much. This event would be similar to what Alaskans experience in the winter”. Bolden said.

Pregnant Mothers’ Immune Dysfunction Linked to Autism With Intellectual Disability

Autism with intellectual disability is associated with the mother’s immune dysfunction while pregnant, a recent study suggests.

Expecting mothers who have high levels of certain inflammatory proteins, cytokines, and chemokines, which control communication between cells of the immune system, may have significantly greater chances of having a child with autism along with intellectual disability, according to the study conducted by UC Davis Mind Institute.

Researchers studied a large, diverse population by using blood serum samples of mothers in the Kaiser Permanente Early Markers for Autism Study, obtained from the California Department of Public Health.

Of that population, 184 children developed autism and intellectual disability, 188 had developmental disability alone, and 428 were general population control participants.

Women who had delivered their babies between July 2000 and September 2003 participated in the research that was designed to evaluate biomarkers for autism.

“Inflammation during the second trimester in the mothers of children with autism who also have intellectual disability was significantly greater than in mothers of children [with] autism without intellectual disability in our study,” said Judy Van de Water, professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

“However, equally significant was that profiles of mothers whose children go on to be diagnosed with autism and intellectual disability differed markedly from those whose children have intellectual disability without autism, as well as from the typically developing general population,” she said.

“Their profiles are distinct from all of the other groups that we studied, based on their cytokine and chemokine profiles,” Van de Water added. “This finding suggests an avenue that we will explore to potentially identify possible markers to separate sub-phenotypes in the autism population.”

Researchers say an increase in inflammatory markers with the autism and intellectual disability group in comparison with other reference groups is striking.

“This really is suggesting that there is a lack of the immune regulation in these moms that is typically associated with a healthy pregnancy,” said Karen L. Jones, an author of the study.

Researchers concluded that variations in the gestational immune environment among mothers of children who have autism with intellectual disability may lead to alterations in the neurodevelopmental course of the developing fetus.

This may eventually result in the altered behavioral phenotype characteristic of children with autism and intellectual disability.

Authors of the study also pointed out that maternal immune activation represents one of various paths that can lead to differences in maternal cytokines, including environmental toxicants such as pesticides, polychlorinated biphenyls, and polybrominated diphenyl ethers.

Mid-gestational maternal levels of cytokine and chemokine proteins might also interact with other possible risk factors, like parental genetics.

About 1 in 68 children are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), according to the Centers for Disease Control. Reports of individuals with autism range from all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups.

During 2006–2008, about one in six children in the country had a developmental disability ranging from speech and language impairments to serious developmental disabilities such as intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, and autism.

Strokes Are 91 Percent Preventable, New Study Finds

A new study suggests that strokes—a leading cause of death and disability across the globe—are highly preventable.

Ten risk factors are associated with 91 percent of strokes—and most are easily controlled by the individual, according to a study led by Dr. Martin J. O’Donnell and Dr. Salim Yusuf of the Population Health Research Institute at McMaster University.

The study—built on findings from a previous stroke study that identified risk factors for stroke in 6,000 participants from 22 countries—inspected an additional 20,000 individuals from 32 countries and from diverse demographics, including young, old, male, and female patients.

Of the 10 modifiable risk factors, the most significant was hypertension. Eliminating hypertension alone could slash the number of stroke cases by 48 percent, according to a MacArthur University statement.

Other preventable risk factors found include physical inactivity (which accounted for 36 percent of strokes), diet (19 percent), waist-to-hip ratio, psychosocial factors, current smoking, cardiac causes, alcohol consumption, and diabetes mellitus.

The findings, published in The Lancet on July 15, also show that the prevalence of the 10 risk factors remained the same when adjusting for demographics such as sex, age, ethnic group, and region. However, the study found variations in importance of risk factors depending on the region.

The importance of hypertension was 60 percent in Southeast Asia while it was a more modest 40 percent in Western Europe, and North America, according to the statement. Risk by alcohol consumption was lowest in Western Europe, North America, and Australia, but highest in Africa and south Asia. Authors of the study suggest that strategies implemented to reduce stroke may have to be tailored to the specific region.

Ultimately, the study finds that stroke is a highly preventable disease that is not complicated by variables such as age and sex.

“Now is the time for governments, health organizations, and individuals to proactively reduce the global burden of stroke. Governments of all countries should develop and implement an emergency action plan for the primary prevention of stroke,” they wrote.
