First in Israel: Surgery that Removes Shaking due to Parkinson’s Disease

In a medical breakthrough, a treatment has been found to treat Parkinson’s disease. In a rare procedure, brain surgery was performed to treat Parkinson’s and its subsequent shaking via ultrasound waves.

The surgery was done in Haifa’s Rambam Hospital, and was done during the annual conference International Society for Therapeutic Ultrasound (ISTU) held last Tuesday.

The complex and innovative surgery was developed by the innovative Israeli company InSightec. The procedure is performed utilizing ultrasound waves while the patient lies within a MRI machine wearing a special helmet. The surgeon uses a computer mouse instead of a knife.

After only an hour, the patient can get up and leave the hospital without shaking. The patient can regain their quality of life which has been lost due to Parkinson’s disease.

InSightec’s system has performed 500 such treatments around the world – in the US, Switzerland, South Korea, Spain and Italy. This is the first time the procedure was done in Israel in Rambam Hospital.

    Thank you, Israel.
Genesis 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Old Covenant Israel was cursed because she didn’t follow her covenant. They were destroyed as per promise in Deut. 28. The covenant was abrogated and the chosen people status and land promise revoked.

Religious people!!!!,How wonderful life will be without them.

            rempat

Not all religious people are like that, just the annoying ones.

            scottlo

Yes, religion is man’s efforts to know God, while faith is a personal relationship with our Creator.

            Yinka7

Won’t it be nice if you keep your religion to yourself and stop forcing your God’s opinion on everyone else.It will make the world a really nicer place.Keep your personal relationship with “your” creator between you and him/her.

Forcing? We never forced anyone to believe for centuries. Just giving people an option to believe. Maybe it was like that in distant past, but things are different. I guess its better when atheism takes over. When in fact if you look on our side of things, you’re the ones who are forcing us NOT to believe. Sometimes violently. Double standard much? See now, the communists regime (which is invented by an atheist of course) have done so much to help humanity…. *rolls eyes*

Where do you think they are all going?

          Bluemoonmuse

Not everyone who says Lord Lord shall enter my kingdom, but those who call others a-holes, well….

        scottlo

No Dave, it was renewed by the only One who could do so, the only One who has kept all versions of the same basic convenant. The Whole Bible is the same unless you don’t understand Paul. Visit 119 Ministries.

And this is pertinent how?????? Not meant as a snotty remark, btw, but rather an honest question. How does Genesis 12:3 have anything to do with ultrasound intervention?

        Paul Krupa

Nan, US has been a blessing to Israel, so the promise, God will bless those (US) who bless you (israel). A Us citizens can use this israeli company to get healed (blessed). Thus I (God) will bless those who bless you. And curse those who curse you. Opposite example is Hitler, he was cursed because he cursed Israel.

How on earth are we going to beat the Islamists (faith is their strength) when people wilfully believe this pie in the sky nonsense?

            scottlo

The two are unrelated. Recognizing the enemy is key. Hint – when they seek to cut off your head, this is a clue.

            Arnold Vere Ward

Unrelated? Faith is simply a matter of degree – always delusional.

            Paul

Why attack faith? No matter how strident? It is when one’s faith wishes harm to another. You seem to be a very mean and nasty person. Faith can lower blood pressure and relieve anxieties, but probably won’t change your personality–but it might. Enjoy being nasty while on this earth

            Arnold Vere Ward

Odd – because I am both popular and successful, just not gullible..

This was a promise to Abram about the coming Messiah (from his adopted human lineage) for those who accept or reject Him.

        captainsgirl

That promise is to everyone. God was telling Abraham, if anyone blesses you that He would bless them, but if they cursed the Jews He will curse them. The Abrahamic Covenant is forever.
udges 2:1 ¶And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.

        captainsgirl

No it wasn’t. It’s for everyone. And God said he would never break that covenant. Judges 1:2

He did have an earlier surgery that greatly reduced his shaking, he has since refused any additional surgery that could further reduce the shaking.

      Rmarcus8

I thought the exact same thing.

I saw a story about a aspergers patient that experienced empathy for the first time after a similar experiment. The effects lasted for a couple of weeks as I remember.

    How marvelous, thank you ISRAEL.

Does it help with the other degenerative problems

    Leckey Harrison

What’s lacking from this article is the long term effects residual side effects, and statements from any of the 500 alleged patients.

    Nan K. Nye

They don’t really tell you anything!! How does this differ from the deep brain stimulation surgery (other than this isn’t invasive and that is)? Side effects? Efficacy? How long does it last? I think I am more intrigued by the bike guy and the findings that repetitive activities have a real effect.

      Bluemoonmuse

A friend had the deep brain stimulation surgery – he’s 88 years old – a couple years ago, and aside from his wife/caregiver wanting to strangle him sometimes, he’s been doing much better. I wonder if he has heard of this ultrasound treatment and whether he would experience further improvement. He doesn’t shake as much, but he still gets exhausted.

    Kim Druckman Morris

What a fantastic breakthrough, please keep us updated on the progress of these patients.

How about recognition for the team who pioneered this treatment, without them there wouldn’t be an opprtunity to follow up on the long term effect, nor the opprtunity for further research and outcomes – isn’t that a motivating factor when the ultimate goal is a cure and perhaps this is!!!
